Fitment help and answers to the questions we get asked most.

Which Travel Buddy oven do I have?

This is the number one question we get, and getting it right matters because trays, trivets and insulated door kits are made to suit one oven or the other. Look at the front of your oven and count the black knobs:

  • One black knob (timer only) = Original Travel Buddy oven (the smaller oven).
  • Two black knobs (timer + temperature) = Travel Buddy Marine (Large) oven or Travel Buddy 24V oven.

Original oven parts will not fit the Marine or 24V oven, and Marine parts will not fit the Original. If you’re still not sure, email a photo of the front of your oven to sa***@**********************om.au and we’ll tell you which one it is.

Trays for Road Chef, Kings, Kickass and similar ovens

Road Chef, Kickass, Kings, Tentworld, Ironman, On The Road and similar 12V ovens are basically the same oven from the same factory, so the same trays suit them. We make these in 38mm shallow and 78mm deep. See Road Chef oven trays and Kings oven products. For The Road Chef Big Bertha, see Big Bertha trays and brackets.

Frequently asked questions

Our trays are Australian made from food-grade 304 stainless steel with a 2B finish. All welding is done to a high sanitary standard, and the welds are cleaned and passivated with a certified food-grade solution.

No. Trays, trivets and insulated door kits are sized for one oven or the other. Count the knobs on the front of your oven (see the guide at the top of this page) and buy the matching parts. The door latch kit is the exception: it suits both the Original and Marine ovens.

The insulated cover fits over your existing oven door, so there’s no need to remove the door. The kit comes with the latch attached, the correct size drill bits, stainless rivets and bolts. You’ll need a drill and a rivet gun to fit it. Download the door kit fitting guide (PDF) or see insulated door and latch kits.

The latch kit is made from 304 stainless and includes the stainless rivets. You’ll need a drill, 3mm and 4mm drill bits and a rivet gun. It’s the same latch used on the Road Chef oven.

The half-height Y62 cargo barrier attaches to your rear grab handles and the 2nd-row headrests. It’s easy to install and can be removed within a few minutes if needed. It’s modular, so you can add the luggage shelf, divider and lower infill later. Download the Y62 cargo barrier fitting instructions (PDF). See all Y62 Patrol products.

Running a Starlink Mini straight off 12V can cause drop-outs and slow speeds because of voltage drop along the standard cable. The Mini can accept up to 48V, so our 12V/24V to 48V booster kit lets it run at full potential and use a longer cable without issues. It suits 12V or 24V systems and comes with a 5m cable that plugs straight into the Mini.

The Starlink Mini roof bracket mounts to your roof rack, or the roof of your vehicle, caravan or camper, using the multiple slots in the base. The dish sits in a cradle and is held in place by a solid plastic cover and cover plate, which bolt to the base plate with 4 bolts. It’s designed to protect the dish from rough tracks, weather and branches, and to deter theft.
